Theresa Cooper

Tri Kappa’s whirlwind of activity, Theresa Cooper, loves making cheeseballs. It’s an obvious choice for a woman who likes to keep busy and work hard.

“Cheeseballs are my favorite because it’s a sisterhood fundraiser,” Theresa says. “It’s a thing we have to do together.”

Theresa started her life in Honolulu, where her dad was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. She’s lived in many places throughout her life, including Italy and Alaska. In 1984 she was graduated from Northwest Ash High School in North Carolina and attended undergrad at UNC Charlotte. She worked on her master’s degree at Florida State.

After moving to Bloomington in 2006, Theresa decided to put her energy and perfectionism to good use by starting Zen Cleaning. Her business grew so quickly that she had to urge her parents to move to the Hoosier State to help her out. She and her husband, Mark, have even recruited her three sons, Nicco, Jared and Mateo, to lend a hand in a pinch.

It was through Zen that Theresa came to Tri Kappa. Two of her clients and friends, Shelley Singell and Nancy Gettinger, urged her to get involved back in 2015.

“I wanted to do something for the community,” Theresa says. “I wanted to be affiliated with a group that gives back. I love the philosophy of Tri Kappa.”

Theresa also loves the “Small Sacrifice” members of the Alpha chapter participate in each month.

“This is always one of my favorite things because we instantly give something to our community,” Theresa says. “Those little things are so valuable.”

Theresa recently shared her love for the Btown sisterhood with Kathy Sandefur, who joined the group in 2019.

“Almost all my friends are Tri Kappa sisters,” Theresa laughs. “I just love my sisters. I love the group. I look forward to the meetings and activities we do each month!”
