Jill Meister
Jill Meister is thankful she was able to join Tri Kappa in 2003, take a break to raise her daughters, then reaffiliate later and enjoy the sisterhood and volunteerism the local chapter provides.
“I had been involved with the Boys and Girl Club Auxiliary, and I wanted to stay involved in the community, so I joined Tri Kappa,” Jill says. “My kids were young, and I was always scurrying around to find babysitters. Someone told me to step back and enjoy my kids.
“I took a long pause from Tri Kappa then decided to get involved again.”
Stephanie Oyler, Lisa Orme and Kim Strychalski had all urged her to rejoin. It’s a decision she’s glad she made.
“I think it is such a unique group of women,” Jill says. “I am amazed at how smart people are and the talents they have. Sometimes I leave the meetings and I’m in awe at the dedication these women have had over the years. I’m blown away by how much people put their heart and soul into Tri Kappa.”
While Jill loves to participate in Blingo and has worked on the Cheeseball Committee, as well as attended the Sisterhood Socials, it’s Flower Day that really has her heart.
“Honestly, when I helped with the Flower Committee, I didn’t know what to expect,” Jill says. “But it was so much fun, and I got to know so many more women that day.
“You’re getting to volunteer and have social time at the same time!”
Jill was born in Indianapolis but has lived in Bloomington her whole life. After graduating from South, she attended Indiana University and worked at Nick’s part-time. After finishing college in 1991, she moved to North Carolina for less than a year before coming back to Bloomington and starting work in the wine and wholesale business.
Her employer, Republic National Distributing Company, is based out of Indianapolis and has clients in over 30 states. A big part of her job is working with independent restaurants to put together their wine programs.
“It’s a fun industry and I love my job,” Jill says. “I work closely with Big Red Liquors, where I oversee the wine ordering.”
Jill and her husband, Andy, have two grown children, Lilly and Hadley, who both live in Bloomington.
