Erica Moore

Being a working mom, Erica Moore looks forward to her Tri Kappa meetings.

“I’m always busy with my kids, so it’s nice to have something to do and people to interact with who aren’t wrapped up with their kids,” Erica laughs.

“I really enjoy the meetings. I know they are technically business meetings, but they are social meetings for me where I can sit down and forget about everything else for two hours.”

Erica was born in Hammond but grew up in Danville, Ill. She learned to love Hoosier basketball from her dad, so going out-of-state to college was her dream. After attending Indiana University, she started working at the university, now serving as a study director at the Center for Survey Research. She has been with IU almost 20 years.

She is such a Hoosier, in fact, that she and her husband, Chris, met while both were working at Kilroy’s.

“The night Bobby Knight gave his farewell speech in Dunn Meadow, we were swamped,” Erica laughs.

They have two daughters, Ava and Audrey, and a dog named Penny.

Erica credits her friend Karen Banach with luring her into the Tri Kappa sisterhood in 2017.

“(Being from Illinois), I really didn’t understand what Tri Kappa was,” Erica says. “But we talked about it a couple of times while our daughters were hanging out, and she persuaded me to join.”

Because she is a self-proclaimed “people person,” Erica says being part of the Alpha chapter has been a wonderful addition to her life.

“I like having this group of women in my life,” she says. “And, if you’re really interested in helping people and philanthropy, Tri Kappa fulfills that need, too. We are all working together for a common cause.”

As with most members, Cheeseball Day is Erica’s favorite event of the year. She likes it so much she has even served as co- chair of the committee.

“I love doing cheeseballs, and I love eating the cheeseballs!” she laughs.
