Beth Theile

Beth Theile is a volunteer extraordinaire.

In addition to two, two-year stints as Tri Kappa treasurer, Beth serves on the 100 Plus Women Who Care Steering Committee, Bloomington Riley Advisory Council, the local chapter and national board of Operation Friendship of America and the Bloomington Hospital Foundation Gala Committee. She also spends countless hours working with Bloomington South’s “Sounds of South” choir and the high school’s dance team. She is a lifelong member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

“I saw how my parents (Ray and Marcie Tichenor) gave to their community, so volunteering is second-nature to me,” Beth says.

Joining Tri Kappa seemed to be the next logical step following her five-year term on the Boys and Girls Clubs Auxiliary. Her Tri Kappa sponsor, Leigh Walls, said she had another volunteer opportunity in mind for Beth.

“I thought it would be fun to get to know more ladies, make more friends and still do something for the community,” Beth says. “But after Leigh said it was a 10-year commitment, I said, ‘Whoa!’ But I have to say that 10 years went by very fast.”

The 1987 Bloomington North graduate studied marketing at Butler University and joined the Delta Gamma sorority. It’s at Butler that Beth met her husband, Kevin. They have three daughters, Tri Kappa active member Kendall, Madison and Regan. The Theiles both work in the Tichenor family business, TIS, Inc.

Beth says she has really enjoyed being on the Blingo Committee the past two years.

“I was blown away by the success,” she says.

When the committee was researching bingo-type fundraisers, Beth says she got excited because she knew a fun Blingo event in Bloomington would be different and could raise lots of cash.

Beth says she’s happy she made the decision to join Tri Kappa back in 2006, and she looks forward to many more years giving back to the Bloomington community.

“Overall, I just love the camaraderie we have at Tri Kappa,” Beth says. “The closeness with the sisters, the tight friendships.

“We’re having fun doing good for the community.”
